AssetSelf — Terms of Use

Effective Date: June 19, 2026 Last Updated: June 19, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of AssetSelf, including the website at assetself.com and any related applications and services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Meaning Lab LLC ("Meaning Lab," "we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Washington, USA.

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Your Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
  • You agree to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account at hello@assetself.com.
  • We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to safeguard your credentials.

3. The Service

AssetSelf is a personal finance and life-tracking tool that lets you record and visualize information such as income, assets, debts, expenses, savings goals, time use, and personal goals, and view derived metrics and projections. The Service is for informational and organizational purposes only and does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal, or other professional advice. See our Disclaimer.

4. Your Content and Data

  • You retain ownership of the information you enter into the Service ("Your Content").
  • You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of Your Content. Metrics and projections are generated from what you enter and from assumptions described in the Service; they are estimates, not guarantees.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service or its security;
  • Upload malicious code or use automated means to scrape or overload the Service;
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

  • Certain features require a paid subscription. Pricing and plans are described at the point of purchase.
  • Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full payment card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • All payments are final and non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law. We do not provide refunds for unused time or partial billing periods.
  • We may change pricing prospectively with reasonable notice.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and the "AssetSelf" name and branding, is owned by Meaning Lab LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as permitted here.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers (for example, hosting, database, and payment providers). Your use of the Service may also be subject to those providers' terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY METRIC OR PROJECTION IS ACCURATE. See our separate Disclaimer.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEANING LAB LLC AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Meaning Lab LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (for example, by posting the updated Terms with a new "Last Updated" date or by email). Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If a dispute arises between you and Meaning Lab LLC relating to these Terms or the Service, the parties agree to first attempt to resolve it through good-faith mediation. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days after a written request to mediate, it will be resolved by final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, seated in Snohomish County, Washington (proceedings may be conducted remotely where permitted). Either party may instead bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court. Disputes will be resolved on an individual basis only, and not as a class, collective, or representative action.
