AssetSelf — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Meaning Lab LLC ("Meaning Lab," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use AssetSelf and assetself.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Account information: your name and email address when you create an account. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form — we do not see or store your plain-text password.
  • Financial and personal information you enter: the data you choose to record in the Service, such as income, assets, debts, bills, savings goals, net worth, time use, goals/quests, and notes. You decide what to enter.
  • Communications: information you provide when you contact us (for example, feedback or support requests).

Information collected automatically:

  • Basic technical and usage information such as device/browser type, approximate region, and interactions with the Service, used to operate, secure, and improve it.

Payment information:

  • If you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly under its own privacy policy. We do not collect or store your full payment card numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and operate the Service and your account;
  • Calculate and display your metrics, projections, and progress;
  • Process subscriptions and payments (via Stripe);
  • Respond to your requests and provide support;
  • Secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations;
  • Improve and develop features.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. How Your Information Is Stored and Protected

  • Your data is stored using our database provider, Supabase, and our hosting provider, Vercel.
  • We use access controls (including row-level security so each user can access only their own records) and rely on our providers' encryption in transit and at rest.
  • No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

  • Service providers / processors who help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, database, authentication, and payment providers such as Vercel, Supabase, and Stripe), under their respective terms;
  • Legal and safety reasons — if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Meaning Lab, our users, or others;
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where your information may be transferred subject to this Policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data (see "Your Rights").

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate information;
  • Delete your information ("right to erasure");
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Receive a copy of your information (portability);
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell it).

7. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at hello@assetself.com and we will delete it.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy with a new "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you.
